Greetings to All,
Beginning this Love In Action with a short update on “what’s coming” for 2021.
The theme will be “It’s Time to Suit Up!”
We’ve all been challenged to figure out what REALLY matters to us, on the deepest level. Some things we “thought” were important, dropped away. Other things we may have taken for granted, have come to the front of our hearts, thoughts, and actions. 2020 is the year when we were shown things clearly— not everything we saw was pleasant. In fact, a lot was downright tragic. There is no denying (it’s now a clear choice to deny) that we are now conscious of many areas of our lives, both personally, locally, and globally that are ready to shift. And EACH OF US has a role to play! That is why the theme for 2021 is, “It’s Time to Suit Up!”. It is TIME (this will be a central theme this year) for each of us to FIRST: figure out what we are most passionate about, and then SECOND: take action in a beneficial way for others.
There is a Paradigm Shift to win/win which originates from our actions being directed BY our Passion!
This will be explored in the upcoming Love In Action emails, with plenty of practical examples. My Intent is to Inspire the flame of passion that is already burning inside of you TO ACT.
For now, recognize that we are shifting into another phase of the Journey and we each play a role in its manifestation. Our responsibility is to follow our Soul’s Guidance.
A place to begin is, where we are…
This LIA is a hodgepodge of transition, with offerings of gratitude to what is ending and what is beginning.
May we be gentle, with ourselves and each other.
It is far too easy to discourage, all too easy to criticize, to complain, to rebuke.
Let us try instead to see even a small amount of good in a person and concentrate on that.
Let us be quicker to praise than to find fault.
Let us be quicker to thank others than to complain.

We Ended the Last Jail Contract with ICE in Oregon. After 3 years of organizing led by detained people, Columbia Gorge organizers, and dozens of other groups acting in solidarity across the state, we built enough people power to end the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) contract at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR), a public jail. Two hunger strikes led by people detained inside NORCOR demanding an end to inhumane treatment, a march, hundreds of solidarity rallies, and thousands of neighbor-to-neighbor conversations paved the way for the NORCOR Board to vote unanimously to end the jail’s contract with ICE in August!

Values Matter
This past week was a windfall for Mother Earth with Biden’s nominations of New Mexico Representative Deb Haaland as Secretary of Interior, North Carolina environment secretary Michael Regan to head up the Environmental Protection Agency, and former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg for Secretary of Transportation.
Long ignored, Native Americans like Haaland have been steadfast in protecting our natural resources. Regan has already made history in North Carolina with his forward looking envionmental decisions. One of the biggest things on Buttigieg’s plate will be construction of hundreds of charging stations across America to service our transition from fossil-fuel-burning vehicles to electric ones. It’s a big step toward reducing carbon emissions but it also represents a popular will to live by our values rather than immediate gratification.
